Bal Samand Lake Palace

A mere 5 kilometres north of the city limits of Jodhpur, on the Mandore Road, is the Balsamand Lake Palace, overlooking the still, clear Balsamand Lake. Built in red sandstone employing the typical ornate Rajput architectural style, it was initially conceived as the summer residence of the Jodhpur Majarajahs.

There are 10 palace suites, each different but similar in that they are spacious, well appointed, and brimming with charm. The wide patios or little ornate windows, the antique furnishings, the definition of separate spaces and niches with low arches, all echo the splendour of a rich and luxurious past and make for a stay of indulgent fantasy in the present. The palace has a multi-cuisine restaurant and a coffee shop.
