FAQ: Car Rentals

1. Can I tow with a rented car?

No. Towing is a violation of the rental agreement and it is not permitted under any circumstances.

2. What happens if I return the car late?

Late returns can effect the rate assigned to the rental. Returns after the Agreed Hour usually result in extra charge of another day as the Car is scheduled to be delivered to another client.

3. Can I take the seats out of a Rental Car?

Sorry, all seats must remain in the Car.

4. What is the policy on off road driving?

Generally, vehicles, including 4-wheel drives, are to be operated only on regularly maintained roads.
Off-road use is a violation of the rental agreement.

5. Can payment be made at one location and the car rented at another?

No. The renter must qualify at the renting location with their own form of payment, valid driver’s license, and must meet the minimum age requirements.

6. What are the requirements for a rental?

An acceptable valid driver's license, issued in the country of residence, held for at least one year, MUST be presented at time of rental.

The Driver must be at least 21 years old for Car Groups A,B,C and over 25 years old for Cars of all other Groups.
The Driver must hold a valid Driving License for at least 12 months.

7. Is there any optional equipment ?

Based on availability the following optional equipment may be offered and charged extra :
- Roof Rack
- GPS
- Baby seat

8. Can I drop the car at a different location than where I indicated?

This could be arranged with our office and a special charge depending on the location, where the car is to be dropped off. It cannot be left elsewhere without prior arrangements with the rental office.

9. Who can drive the car?

Anyone who intends to drive the car must also have the required documentation and must sign the rental agreement as an additional driver. The maximum number of additional drivers for any one vehicle is 3.

10. What is your fuel policy?

You have the following two options:

Option One
Pay in advance for the fuel and bring the car back empty. Our Organization will fill the car, regardless of how much fuel is left in the tank, credits will not be given for unused gas.

Option Two
If you do not know how far you will be driving, but plan to stop for gas, do not pay our Organization in advance for gas and return the car full to avoid any refueling service charge.

11. May I reserve a specific Car Make/ Model?

With the exception of the luxury categories car rental reservations are made according to category or group and not specific makes or models. Specific models pictured or mentioned are used as examples of the type of car you can expect. In the event of limited availability our organization reserves the right to substitute vehicles of similar or superior standards or from a more expensive category without any additional charge to the renter.

12. Can I upgrade my vehicle once the rental period has commenced?

We will do our best to help you depending on car availability.

13. If the car is damaged would a replacement be available?

Yes, if the car is damaged a replacement will be provided by the Car Hire Company.

14. What should I do in the case of an accident?

First of all remain calm and see if anyone is injured. When you pick up your rental car be sure the rental agency writes the local phone numbers for the police, road service and an emergency contact number (usually cell phone) for someone from the agency. In the case of an accident you should immediately call the police to report the nature and location of the incident and the name of the agency you have hired the car from. Then call the agency emergency contact so they can report the incident to their insurance carrier.

15. Is there a charge for Cars delivered to my Hotel or Apartment?

Generally delivery of a car to your point of arrival or place of accommodation is a courtesy service. In the event that your accommodation is a considerable distance from the vehicle's point of origin there may be a nominal per kilometer charge.

 

16. How do we find you at the airport ?

Most of the car hire agencies we collaborate with have customer service desks in all major airports. Airport staff can guide you to the desk where you present your voucher and they will take you to collect your car.
In smaller regional airports you will be met by a representative holding a placard with your name on it.

17. I have not been to Greece before, do you drive on the right hand side of the road ?

Yes, just like in the USA or the majority of the countries in Europe vehicles in Greece are left hand drive and are driven on the right hand side of the road.
Anywhere you travel abroad however it is a good idea to make sure you are abreast of the driving laws. This information can usually be obtained through your consulate in the country you intend to visit.

18. I don't know how to drive a "stick shift", can I rent an automatic?

Throughout Europe the majority of rental cars have manual transmissions (stick shifts). If you have never driven a manual transmission make sure you request an automatic when you make your reservation. The number of vehicles with outomatic transmissions is often limited so don't wait till the last minute.
