Services

Unspoilt by tourism, northern Evia is an area of outstanding natural beauty, steeped in ancient history.

  • The protected olive grove allows you to be at one with nature. At one with nature - - Learn about olive trees, regarded as sacred by the ancient Greeks, a symbol of wisdom and peace in a land of turbulent history. Some of the oldest trees are over 1,000 years old! - For bird watchers there are soaring eagles and peregrine falcons among the many rare species - Pick bunches of fragrant herbs and discover the countless exotic wild flowers - Woods and the protected olive grove allow for great walks and cycle rides in magnificent surroundings - Join in the harvest between September and January in the olive grove, find out all about the mysteries of the olive, how they are prepared and how olive oil is made.
  • Swim all day on the local beaches or take cycle rides and walks to places where heaven and earth meet.  - Beaches fringe the shore for 27km from Limni all the way to Ilia. The secluded pebbled beaches in front of Eleonas are invariably empty, so you won't find it hard to find a beach to yourself, even in August! - Drive to Agia Anna on the other side of the island and discover a 7km stretch of pure golden sand. - A waterfall in spectacular surroundings in the mountains near Drimona is a challenging cycle ride away. - The Gulf of Evia is the sea you see from Eleonas. It is always calm and rich in sea life. You'll see fishermen’s lights dotting the sea at night and if you're lucky you will also see dolphins. Snorkelling is a must! - Hikers and climbers can enjoy Mt. Candili and Mt. Dirfis, Evia’s highest mountain, where you can even ski in winter.
  • Explore some of the delightful towns and villages nearby. From natural spas to carnivals they have something for everyone. - Edipsos is known for its natural hot springs since ancient times. You can bathe in them today at the Thermae Sylla health spa, enjoy the nightlife and visit the ruins of the ancient town. - The picturesque Limni, with its cobbled streets and harbour, seaside cafés and restaurants, is the home of many an intrepid seafarer. Lively celebrations on national holidays (28 October and 25 March) and a Carnival and no less than 15 days full of events during August alone! - Rovies, the local farming village has fresh produce all year round, and as such the food is second to none, with restaurants noted for their meat and fish menus. Although ancient Rovies has sunk underwater, the current village is situated where an oracle of Apollo once stood. A Frankish tower built in 1256 by Villeharduin still stands in the middle of the village. - The tiny fishing village of Ilia is noted for its seafood tavernas and provides a unique south-facing view of the Gulf of Evia.
  • The monasteries and churches surrounding the local area will fascinate the cultured traveler. - St. David’s monastery on the mountain behind Rovies was established before 1500, a place of pilgrimage and healing, and was where the saint himself lived. - St. George’s monastery, built on the site of a temple to Apollo near Ilia, offers a unique view of the Gulf of Evia and contains sacred relics. - The Galataki nunnery near Limni is built on an ancient temple of Poseidon. Here a renovated tower built during the Frankish era gives an unforgettable view. - St. John the Russian is a wonderfully preserved church at Prokopi, which houses ancient relics brought by refugees from Asia Minor

Children:

Eleonas is a perfect and safe environment for children to explore and play in the company of their parents, if they are not swimming all day at nearby beaches.

The activity centre and the restaurant provide a safe area for children to play out of earshot during the hot afternoons and in winter. It houses a TV, with games console attached and a small library of books and board games.

Food & Beverages

A typical dinner menu at Eleonas serves you the rich local cuisine, made with fresh organic ingredients grown or caught locally, and the estate’s own olive oil and herbs.

Favorites such as moussaka, dolmades, tiropita, chicken with rosemary and sage are on the menu, as are mezedes (Greek hors d’oeuvres) and a variety of deserts. Generous breakfasts include fresh fruit and juices, home-made bread, pastries, home-made jam and feta cheese.

Whether you need a quick drink after a long day baking on the beach or a proper evening meal, the restaurant is open all day from 8.30am to 11.00pm.

Needless to say, a selection of speciality olives is always available!
