Residenza Palazzo Visdomini

Hotel Overview

The luxury of a grand hotel combined with the simplicity of your own home...

This is the philosophy of the Palace Residence of Visdomini di Pietrasanta, a prestigious resort where the charm of elegant surroundings blends with the atmosphere of a unique city and class of its guests.

First and foremost, it is Pietrasanta itself. It has been the cultural capital of Versilia since the time of Michelangelo Buonarroti. The town, embraced by the Apuane alps and Tyrrhenian sea, is one of the world art centres, rich in traditions and laboratories of marble and numerous art foundries, where all the great international artists produce their work in marble and bronze with the aid of the skilled local workers and patronage, which can be felt in the streets and in the square.

Here it is easy to stumble across leading figures from the cultural life of Versilia: from Cascella and Yan Kasuda to Jean Michel Folon, Igor Mitoraj and Fernando Botero.

Today, Pietrasanta, which is also called little Athens for its rich culture, is a fashionable place for international tourism. Plus to the craft shops you will find numerous art galleries and restaurants where you can taste typical products from the best Tuscan cuisine.

History

A few years ago, an architect from Pietrasanta, Marco Bascherini, carefully restored the building, which was erected in the late nineteenth century.

It once belonged to a noble Florentine family who turned it into their residence. The property was conceded by the Marquis Ernesto Umberto Dazzini Visdomini and it was transformed for welcoming guests.

Location

Palazzo Visdomini is set right in the historic centre, in the heart of this architectural treasure.

Situated at the foot of the hills near the sea, Pietrasanta is a small city of considerable artistic and cultural importance. Florence is 80 Km away from the Residence, which can also be reached by train (the station is 500 metres away).

THE SUITES

Palazzo Visdomini Residence was built in one of the noble buildings in the historic centre of Pietrasanta. It is a Tuscan city known all over the world for centuries for its art laboratories frequented by the greatest artists of every age, from Michelangelo Buonarroti, who created his most important works here, to contemporary artists that lived and worked in this marvellous city where the beauty of the Apuane Alps blends in magically with the sea.

Palazzo Visdomini was restored with the aim of preserving its early twentieth century atmosphere conferred when Count Visdomini was planning his own residence here.

Six apartments -suites- were created, each one built with a lounge, bedroom, bathroom and small kitchen to offer its guests every comfort and satisfy even the most demanding needs...

The first structure was built to accommodate customers wanting to enjoy a period of relaxation, culture and deep impressions in a unique setting to take you back in time, without foregoing any of today’s modern privileges, with the sea close at hand.

Eleonora Duse Ground Floor Room The “Eleonora Duse” room, situated on the ground floor, offers its guests an atmosphere from times gone by, called to mind by the eighteenth/nineteenth century furnishings of the elegant Louis XVI wardrobe and Napoleon III chest of drawers.

The spacious bathroom adjoining the room with its polychrome marble finishings is an invitation to relax with its hydro-massage Jacuzzi and “early twentieth century” surroundings and antique white Carrara marble washbasin.

Michelangelo Suite The door opens onto the suite dedicated to the great Michelangelo, who concluded the purchase of the block of marble in Pietrasanta, which was used to create his greatest masterpiece: The Statue of David. Intimacy is transformed into atmosphere by the complicity of its bold colours, which emphasise and frame an inlaid chest of drawers and Charles X games table.

D'Annunzio Suite Suite offering strong emotions and bold passionate colours, the subject of D’Annunzio’s lyrical poems. Memories blend in with the Pompeian red of the hall and the picturesque view of the roofs and hills.
