Mavrokordatiko Guest House

The origin of the name "MAVROKORDATOS" derives from the two great Byzantine families, the Mavrous and the Gordatous., which became Mavrokordatos and eventually Mavrokordatos. The family members settled in Chios around the year 1570 where they developed commercial and economic ties with the Genovese. The Mavrokordatiko building was constructed in January, 1736. Since that time it was passed down to family members until 1938 when the last of the generation donated it to the Chios Municipality. Today it is serving the public as a traditional guest house, restaurant and cafeteria. Our ultimate goal is to develop a cultural center in the area of Kambos.

A traditional mansion built in 1736. Renovated in 1995 in order to offer high quality accommodation services. Situated in Kampos, a historic, quiet and imposing area where the main features such as the impressive gates remain untouched by the time. The Mavrokordatiko is 7 km away from Chios town and 3 km from the airport while the nearest beach is just 3 km away. There is a regular itinerary to and from Chios town.

The Mavrokordatiko offers 9 luxurious rooms ranging from 20 m² to 40 m². All the rooms are equipped with bathroom, satellite TV, mini bar, telephone, radio, hairdryer and air-conditioning facilities. There are also safe deposit boxes available and a special space for children to have fun.

A restaurant and a cafeteria are on the ground floor and at the yard. It is open at a full season basis.
